Rethinking
critical care

The global leader in FMS innovation

Advanced Medical Balloons (AMB) leads the industry in catheter technologies that improve care for critically ill patients with fecal incontinence and burn patients requiring fecal diversion. AMB harnesses the unique properties of polyurethane, combined with smart sealing design, to solve leakage issues associated with first-generation silicone-base fecal management systems. Our flagship product, the hygh-tec® system, is manufactured in Germany, has been adopted in hospital based critical care units throughout Europe, and is FDA-cleared for the US market.

Inspired by real-world
experience

Advanced Medical Balloons (originally Creative Balloons GmbH) was founded in 2009 by Dr. Fred Göbel, an anesthesiologist at Heidelberg University Hospital. Witnessing the significant challenge of fecal management care in the ICU, Dr. Göbel set out to develop a better solution. The result was a process for molding polyurethane into microscopically thin balloon casings—revolutionizing catheter technology and paving the way for today’s hygh-tec system.

Team

Since our founding in 2009, AMB has grown to a 40+ person team of interdisciplinary experts, working together to pursue our mission of rethinking critical care.
